Dick Francis

Recently I picked up Field of Thirteen, a collection of Dick Francis short stories. Out of the collection, my favorites include Raid at Kingdom Hill, Dead on Red, and Bright White Star. I'm not naturally drawn to short stories, but did enjoy reading these.

Many of the short stories in Field of Thirteen are stories about horse racing, for good reason apparently, because after serving in the Royal Air Force during WWII, Francis became a jockey.

A four-time winner of the Edgar award, Francis wrote 39 novels and numerous articles and short stories.
