The Story of Edgar Sawtelle

I sometimes receive promotional e-mails from Borders and their most recent e-mail announced that The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski has been chosen for Oprah's Book Club.

Oprah's endorsement almost guarantees best seller status for the book, but there is also a lot of enthusiasm for the book from others. Stephen King wrote a glowing review that is conteained the back cover of the book. To borrow from the defunct brokerage firm E.F. Hutton, when Stephen King talks I listen.

The author also wrote an essay that accompanys the book, which offers insight into his personal inspiration for the story. I found it interesting that the 2008 publication is the result of ten years of work by the author. A computer scientist by occupation, Wroblewski even felt is necessary to complete the MFA program offered by Warren Wilson College via its' Program for Writers to aid his efforts.
