Online Writing Critique Group

Posted by Backyard Urban Gardening on Wednesday, October 01, 2008

Last weekend I started participating in Scribophile.com, an online critique group for aspiring writers. To date, I've received two critiques on the first draft of Chapter 1 of my novel in progress.

I didnt' agree with everything in the feedback, but I appreciate those who took the time to read my effort and comment about it.

Sometimes I am too personally connected to my work to look at it objectively. I am hoping that Scribophile.com will help in that regard, and give my writing (and revisions) the swift kick in the backside that it needs.

Scribophile - An online writers critique group

Scribophile is a place where you can read things others have written, critique it, and then post things you've written and get feedback. It's quick. It's easy. It's fun.

If you're not quite ready for eye contact with those that critique your work, I think this online group might be just what you're looking for. It could become a time waster, but at the same time it offers a yard stick to help you gauge how a specific story or scene is progressing in the eyes of others.

Writing Critique Group

Anyone belong to a writer's critique group?

I'm looking for an individual or small group of people that would like to share mutual critiques of writing samples. It could be short stories, short novels, online writing, non-fiction, or serious works of fiction. I'm convinced that the fastest way to improve my own writing is to let others read it. If you know of such a group, or would like to form one, let me know.

I found an article today with tips about submitting to online critique groups. Here's another article I found with links to several online critique groups.
