Carl Hiaasen wrote Double Whammy in 1987.

The storyline follows the professional bass fishing tour in Florida weaves a page turning mystery with an unspected "twist" at the end. This mystery is set almost entirely in Florida, except for a small foray to Louisiana for a chapter or two.

Hiaasen addresses corruption in Florida politics, among the religious and among wealthy land developers near Miami. The cast of characters includes a former Florida governor that eats roadkill for breakfast and a photographer turned private investigator that helps expose "cheaters" in a professional bass fishing tournament.

More recent novels include Skinny Dip and Tourist Season. Hiaasen lives near Key West, FL with his wife and can often be found fishing in waters near his home.
