Remote Area Medical

Posted by Backyard Urban Gardening on Sunday, March 02, 2008

Tonight on 60 Minutes I watched a segment about the Remote Area Medical organization. You may remember the founder, Stanley Brock, from Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom program in the 1970's. Proceeds from the sale of his most recent book, All Cowboys Were Indians help fund the RAM organization.

From the website:

Few medical relief charities can compare with RAM in the scope of services offered, frequency of teams dispatched, and the variety of locations served. And the out-of-pocket cost to RAM averages less than $2 per patient!

A recent event held in Knoxville, TN provided free medical services to more than 1,000 people.
